Jan Waring Woods, CPA is a Director at Moody & O’Neal CPAs LLC. Prior to joining Moody & O’Neal CPAs in August of 2024, Jan was Managing Member of her predecessor firm, Jan Waring Woods, CPA, LLC, which she established in January of 2012. Jan was a former partner with Dixon Hughes, PLLC and its predecessor firm Gamble Givens & Moody CPAs. Jan has been serving clients in tax, assurance and client accounting services for over 40 years.

Jan is a 1984 Cum Laude graduate of the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration/Accounting.

Jan has served her community by volunteering in many roles with various business organizations and volunteer boards. Past board member service includes the past Vice-Chair of Finance for the Charleston Regional Development Alliance, the past Vice-Chair of Finance for the Greater Summerville-Dorchester Chamber of Commerce, and the Coastal Crisis Chaplaincy. Jan was also elected by the citizens of Summerville to Summerville Town Council, serving from 2001 to 2005, and filled the role as Mayor Pro Tempore during part of that term. She is a Rotarian with the Summerville Rotary Club. Jan currently serves as a Trustee of the Dorchester Free School Board where she also serves as Treasurer. Jan is also the Treasurer and a member of the Vestry of St. Paul’s Anglican Church Summerville. Jan is a member of the South Carolina Association of CPA’s and the American Institute of CPA’s.

Jan received a Certificate of Achievement as a participant in the Class of 2004 Leadership South Carolina. Jan was also selected as a 2010 Women to Watch from the Summerville community for her outstanding leadership in the greater Summerville community. In 2013, Jan was inducted into the Summerville High School Athletic Hall of Fame in recognition of her excellent athletic record, dedicated service to her school, outstanding personal achievement and the highest standards of conduct and character.

Jan is married to James (Jim) Woods, a law enforcement officer with over 40 years serving South Carolina and the greater Charleston area. They have three adult children: Megan (a teacher), Jimmy (an architect) and Jennings (an officer in the United States Marine Corp.) and two grandchildren, Ansley & Welles.
